Mental Health Program Details

AnneMoss Rogers will provide an in-person 1.5-hour presentation for parents of elementary to high school age students from 4-5:30pm and be around to talk with parents until 6pm. This presentation has been enormously popular and well-received.

Presentation Topic:

How to Raise Mentally Health Kids: 9 Parenting tips for teaching kids how to cope.

Description:
After trying to find help for her once joyful son and rap artist, including wilderness therapy and therapeutic boarding school, AnneMoss’s son Charles met heroin while he was struggling with depression and anxiety, and he died by suicide in 2015.  AnneMoss Rogers will address the mental health issues that youth face and red flags to look for in 5–16-year-olds. This presentation will also dispel common myths about mental health while delivering a message of hope, and empowering parents with specific and doable skills to help today’s youth build resilience.

Takeaways:

  • Distinguish whether it’s average teen angst or a warning sign.
  • Recognize the cryptic ways youth cry for help and signs of suicide.
  • Learn how to respond, what to say/do when you suspect your child is struggling.
  • Find out life events that increase youth mental health challenges and what to do.
  • Learn simple parenting techniques to help your kids build resilience.

AnneMoss follows safe messaging and reporting

“I had the privilege of attending the hosted event this past week with keynote speaker Anne Moss Rogers. I find I have few words to describe the evening…it was riveting.  It gave me pause and has stayed with me.  I’ve had several conversations this week with friends who feel the same. So I’m writing to ask you to bring Anne Moss Rogers back again next year and to open it up to the entire district.”
