We discuss suicide prevention and self-harm, two separate topics. NSSI (nonsuicidal self-injury) is not a suicide attempt. And suicide attempts are not self-harm. Although self-harm does raise someone’s risk of suicide because of lowering the pain tolerance. Those who self-harm have less fear regarding the pain.
