Opening Night for UNMASK to bring attention to and encourage discussion about mental illness

AnneMoss Rogers is our Keynote Speaker, UnMasking the Stigma of Mental Health. She will speak at 6:30 pm

UNMASK is a show started by Susan Vaughan, a local Richmond, VA artist, retired Nurse Practitioner, and unfortunately a survivor of suicide loss. Her sister, Dr. Sally Sledge, died by suicide. In her grief/recovery process, she has planned a traveling juried art show called UNMASK in hopes of bringing attention to and encouraging discussion about mental illness.

Speaking out about suicide and mental illness is a way we can all recognize how pervasive and impactful it is in our community.  NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) of Central Va has agreed to support this show and will have a table with information. Please accept this opportunity to make a difference in how we discuss mental health issues.

Submitted artwork should reflect your or a loved one’s experience with this or a related mental health subject.

The exhibition will be at Artspace from May 24, 2024 – to June 22, 2024. It will then travel to The Montpelier Center for Arts June 25-August 25, 2024.  UNMASK is accepting calls for entry now through March 29, 2024.
