AnneMoss Rogers will do a half hour virtual Suicide Prevention Speaker Presentation on how lived experience and storytelling fits into the LEAD framework.

Here is the eBook that can guide you through telling your own story or coaching others.

This is an event lead by Encompass Community Supports on the LEAD part of the Zero Suicide framework used by healthcare systems. The LEAD Element represents a system-wide commitment that is vital for the framework to take root and lead to sustainable systems-level changes and better quality care. AnneMoss will be focusing on the “lived experience” part of the model. We will be focusing on creating stories that inspire and not traumatize.

The presentation is half an hour and here is the outline:

Telling Your Mental Health Story: Inspire Hope Without Harming

  1. Guidelines on “lived experience” storytelling. What length? Is the person ready? How can we tell? What should they not talk about. (This will include a handout for coaching storytellers and the guidelines.)
  2. Segue into why we made the Zero Suicide documentary, After Your Child’s Suicide Attempt.
  3. Talk about how some debated to cut AnneMoss out of the process since parents might view her as having “lost the fight.”

This event is part of the Virginia Zero Suicide Learning Collaborative Series (starting in April):
